LPCB

LPCB stands for the Loss Prevention Certification Board.

It, primarily is a test house for anything from a safe, to, fire detection, sprinklers, alarm systems, steel fences, barricades etc, made in the UK or Internationally.

Safes that carry this logo have passed tests, using various tools, under specific guidelines and allowed timings to break into.

For ease of understanding.
Imagine a tin box. You might have one for securing keys or petty cash. It’s not really a security safe, and, instinct tells you, you wouldn’t store a Rolex watch or other high value item in because it can be broken into very rapidly.

Well, in layman terms, a hammer may take 2 seconds, a screwdriver might take a similar time to break it. Now imagine a stronger, euro grade 2 security safe.

You are never going to break in with hammer or screwdriver, but, given the security aspects of the safe, its hidden protection and lock protection, the LPCB might say you have 30 minutes with cutting torch, grinders, Jemmy bar, etcetera to get into the safe. If you break into the safe in the timescale, the safe may be downgraded, or the flip side, upgraded.

LPCB won’t discuss with us the sellers, but they will, with manufacturers, either to improve, or maintain standards set out per cash rating protection on any given UK produced security safe.

With ANY safe, regardless of brand the higher the cash rating, the stronger the box.

The LPCB stands for integrity and quality. You have this badge on your safe and you have a product that can last for years.

All Dudley safes on this site carry LPCB certification.

How to choose the correct safe for me

So, you are at the start of looking for a security safe, its wiser step back to understand what you put in one has to be a measured thought process and basic maths process.

E.G. You have had your loose jewellery valued at £30,000 to replace. (if stolen). Divide your value by 10 (= £3000). That is the basic cash rated safe that you need to protect that amount of jewellery. However, you now have to factor what its replacement is worth in 3-5 years.

The average increase of gold is anywhere between 10% to 50% per year at retail!!

I would not be putting my jewellery into a £3000 rated safe!! A modest increase of value at per say 15%, would mean in 3 years, your replacement if stolen, would be £45,000 +!!

Use the rule of thumb, and work out a minimum 3 years interest at 15%, divide by 10 for the cash rating, then, if its as the example, step up to the next cash rating. Yes, it will cost a little more, however, you have now bought time and added strength!!

Oh, and don’t forget to add new purchases of Jewellery too, and have your items revalued every 3-5 years.

Please DO NOT buy a safe because of its price. Understand the above rule of thumb, and you won’t be buying twice!!

Use us for your ‘go to’ brand, and, you won’t regret it. You’ve purchased piece of mind, at excellent value for money and its time well spent!!.
